Punk Rock & Paintbrushes Exhibition Smashed Art Boundaries

Music and art collided for Romantic Rock’s third annual Punk Rock & Paintbrushes holiday art show that took place at Innerspace Gallery in Los Angeles, California.The Sound Sisters traveled from Arizona for an overnight turnaround trip to catch the special event. The exhibition featured original artwork by Matt Skiba (AlkalineTrio and Blink-182), Hunter Burgan (AFI), Warren Fitzgerald (The Vandals and Oingo Boingo), Matt Hensley (Flogging Molly), Carla Harvey (Butcher Babies), Jennie Cotterill (Bad Cop/ Bad Cop), Mike Gallo (Agnostic Front), Steve Caballero (The Faction), Christian Hosoi, Natalia Fabia, Madison Stern, Paul Kobriger, Chris Shary, Kevin Second, Mike Smith, Soma Snakeoil and The Mad Twins: Olya & Vira Ishchuck. The soundtrack of the evening was provided by DJ sets from Noodles (The Offspring), Monique Powell (Save Ferris) and Stacey Dee-J (Stacey Dee and Bad Cop/ Bad Cop). read more

Surf City Blitz Recap!

Punk rock music and motorcycles came together at a beach for 2 days for Surf City Blitz. The event lived up to its name drawing hordes of locals and travelers from all over. Being an Arizonan, I was looking forward to some nice sea breezes and killer music. Thankfully the weather and lineup throughout the weekend did not disappoint, making it well worth traveling the long distance to Huntington Beach. read more

The third annual Les Femmes Underground International Film Festival (LEFUFF)
will make its way to Arizona on Sept. 1st, at Phoenix Center for the Arts. It is the only
traveling festival that showcases exclusively feminist experimental art and narrative
work. This year it will feature films from over 30 different countries ranging in
genres from Documentary, Experimental, Narrative, Horror, Female Sexuality, and
our own concoction Psychotropic. There will be film screenings, vendors, artists,

Arizona artist Jared Aubel has made waves on both a local and national level. His artistic approach to contemporary pop art has a fine art appeal with a surge of humor and whit. Aubel’s subjects vary from a Gangster Jesus to a Punk Rock Zebra. Whatever clever juxtaposition he produces, it is a true reflection of his colorful soul that leaves viewers with a fun afterthought.
